What do they laugh about in Germany? How does the British Humour translate on paper? Which nation hosts the darkest satire? Does the climate of a country play any role in the satire produced? How does the cartoon function as a national mirror? All these questions will be hopefully resolved in the cartoon exchibition "Cartoons in Europe of 27" which will take place in Zappeion-Athens during 13-25 October.
The initiative belongs to the Greek Cartoonists Association, which afrer introducing itself to the public through its website, an initial exchibition in the island of Lefkada and the publishing of its first album "environment SOS", opted for its next step to venture beyond the local borders and take a look to what its neighbouring proffesionals are doing at the moment.
This ambitious project became possible throught the collaboration and organizing skills of the Greek Parliament, whose previous local cartoon excibition pleasantly surprised visitors and professionals alike (the exchibition was kept in display for quite some time after the initial schedule).
The result of this combined effort? A true panorama of the contemporary European Cartoon Scene: 90 proffesionals (34 from Greece plus at least one representative from each of the Europian Union countries) will show and see what differentiates them and what they have in common, displaying in practice 27 different flavours of fun.

The majority of the exchibiting artists will be present on the opening day, when they will enjoy the exchibition as well as the company of their Greek counterparts.
All the artwork will be reproduced in the exchibition catalogue which will be available on the opening day.
Needless to say that for the duration of the excibition (but also before and afrer) the Greek Cartoonists site (www.cartoonists.gr) will be constantly updated with info about the exchibition as well as thorough presentations of the participant artists.
